About Us

The Mars Public Mapping Project – (MP)2 for short – is an online tool that lets members of the general public (including students and school groups) help scientists identify and map geologic features on Mars.

The site uses images of the Martian surface taken in visible light by the Thermal Emission Imaging System (THEMIS), a multi-band camera on NASA's Mars Odyssey orbiter.

(MP)2 is a web-based education and public engagement tool developed by the Mars Space Flight Facility at Arizona State University. It is managed by the Arizona State University Mars Education Program. If you have questions or comments, please contact us at mp2@mars.asu.edu.
